One of our clients turned 70 on Monday. As a retired professor, he spent a substantial portion of his life sitting. The world of academia left his body substantially rounded over with a pretty significant head forward position. It took us some time but he is standing taller and moving substantially better, its been a fun journey. We figured given the sitting article we shared on Facebook earlier this week it was only appropriate to share his testimonial. Thanks Gene, and Happy Birthday!
Today is my 70th birthday. And I feel better than I have in the last 20 years. I stand straighter. My body is more flexible. And I am stronger than I have ever been. All of this is because I have been working out regularly at Breakthrough for the last three years.
A few weeks ago I went to a lecture in Cincinnati. It was part of a class for retired folks, and many of the people in the audience were younger than I am. But they looked and moved like they were much older. Many had stooped shoulders, big bellies, and they walked slowly and painfully. But, as I have learned, getting older does not mean your body has to deteriorate. “Old age” does not equal physical decrepitude.
Before I came to Breakthrough, I had never worked out in my life, but now I have come to understand my exercise here as an integral part of my active lifestyle. Breakthrough is not about lifting big weights and building big muscles. It is about conditioning your body so that you can continue to do the things that you love and enjoy a lifestyle that is not hampered by physical problems.
